Meet the Team
Robert A. Connell, CFP – Chief Executive Officer
Bob is the visionary behind Apex Financial Advisors. With over 37 years of experience in financial planning, and as one of the first CFPs in the country, Bob is truly a groundbreaker in the financial services industry. A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, Bob earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering. After receiving his degree, Bob completed advanced studies and research for NASA for two years as a graduate student. Bob implements a Family Office approach to Wealth Management by focusing on assisting high net worth individuals with their financial and personal goals.
Bob has been a power yoga instructor for over 12 years; this assists him and his clients in maintaining a higher quality of life. He also teaches high performance driving on racetracks throughout the northeast and fosters dogs for rescue organizations.
William F. Davis – Vice President – Relationship Manager
Bill brings 15 years of experience in client relations and communication, most recently working with financial advisors at Janney Montgomery Scott, a wealth management firm headquartered in Philadelphia. Bill received an undergraduate degree from La Salle University and a graduate degree from Temple University; he is currently pursuing a second graduate degree at the Haub School of Business at Saint Joseph’s University.
Bill sits on the board of directors for a local athletic association, actively volunteers for and participates in the La Salle University Alumni Association, teaches as an adjunct professor and is a performing musician.
Stuart Caplan – Director of Portfolio Management
Stu brings 8 years of diverse experience to the team. He most recently worked for Brickell Capital Management, a multi-family investment office in Miami, where he managed and implemented several trading strategies and hedge fund-of-funds portfolios for the firm. He began his career with his family’s art supply business, Plaza Artist Materials, a regional retail chain with 12 locations. Stu received his MBA from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland in 2008 and his BSBA in marketing and entrepreneurship, cum laude, with honors from the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona in 2002.
Stu and his wife recently relocated to Newtown, PA along with their son. He is an avid golfer and is looking forward to joining a softball league.
Bryan Gross – Vice President – Account Services
Shortly after graduating from Ithaca College in 1995, Bryan began his career working for the Philadelphia Stock Exchange. Over the next 15 years he continued to build a career in the financial services industry. In that time, Bryan has amassed a wealth of financial operations knowledge. One of his most recent experiences include working as a Specialist/Trader at Lockwood Financial, a pioneer of the Separately Managed Accounts industry. He was also an Account Administrator for Pitcairn Financial Group, one of the innovators of the multi-family office in the Wealth Management Industry.
Bryan is also an accomplished football official. He has officiated games at both the High School and Collegiate levels, including multiple Philadelphia Catholic League finals and the Philadelphia City Championship.
Diane Jones – Client Services Administrator
Diane brings over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. She most recently worked as the Investor Relationship Manager/Accountant for a private mutual fund specializing in the oil and natural gas industry. The majority of Diane’s financial services industry experience was for MFI Associates, a broker/dealer in the Philadelphia area. There she worked as the firm’s Financial Services Administrator focusing on client services and investment accounting. Diane received her BA in Economics from Temple University.
She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, planning family events, traveling and reading
Sharon Baxter – Client Services Administrator
Sharon brings with her a strong and diverse client services background in many aspects of wealth management. Her experience includes positions as Staff Accountant, Credit Manager and Finance Manager. Through these roles, Sharon has experience in managing accounts receivable and accounts payable, as well as auditing and analysis.
Additionally, Sharon organizes charitable events and in her spare time enjoys creative writing, reading, crafts and traveling.
